DJ Envy has been the target of ridicule from rival rappers and DJs for several months due to allegations of his involvement in a substantial real estate Ponzi scheme with his former business partner, Cesar Pina. But now, it seems like the situation is taking a more serious turn.
Recently, a video emerged online where Rick Ross appears to take a subtle dig at the controversial radio personality through a simple rhyme. In the Instagram clip, he raps, “Fifteen names on one piece of land. Fourteen individuals set to testify.”
This sentiment resonated with fans, who expressed their agreement with the “Hustlin'” MC through colorful comments. One fan wrote, “Ross scored a win in their ongoing feud,” referring to their dispute originating from hosting competing car shows. Another fan added, “Envy’s in hоt water,” while someone else commented, “Rozay got me [laughing face emoji], DJ ENVIOUS! Good luck with that case, my boy!”
This slight comes shortly after the arrest of Cesar Humberto Pina, a property investor from New Jersey, on October 18, on charges related to a wire-fraud scheme. After appearing in a Newark federal court, the 45-year-old was released on a $1 million secured bond with electronic monitoring. Notably, DJ Envy was not charged in connection with the case.
Pina is accused of using his social media influence to deceive his followers by promising significant investment returns while allegedly defrauding them of milliоns of dollars. Legal documents and statements indicate that Pina and the radio host are under investigation for conducting seminars across the country to attract and subsequently defraud investors.
Meanwhile, despite the advice of his lawyer, DJ Envy has consistently denied any involvement in Pina’s questionable business practices.
Earlier this month, DJ Envy addressed the fraud allegations, which have led to multiple lawsuits against him and Pina, as well as Pina’s arrest. On The Breakfast Club, he explained, “Let me clarify some things. Cesar and I conducted seminars with the goal of uplifting our community and educating them about real estate. I wаnted to share knowledge I didn’t have when I bought my first home.”
He continued, “Cesar’s financial dealings were not known to me. I brought industry professionals to these seminars, such as real estate agents, contractors, and money lenders from various markets. I even brought Auction.com to demonstrate online house purchasing.”
DJ Envy concluded, “To claim that I was involved is entirely untrue. I’ve been on the radio for nearly 30 years, and throughout that time, I’ve only aimed to uplift people. I would never take a single dollar from someone.”
