2 Chainz is delighted about his next album with Lil Wayne, but he says that competing with the New Orleans great is nerve-wracking.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the Atlanta rapper claimed he worries about needing to raise his bar to stay up with Wayne.
2 Chainz of Wayne: “I think me and him just have that chemistry.” We respected each other and loved working together. As the saying goes, steel sharpens steel.I’m always nervous because this verse must be better than the last. I find it healthful. I think competition is good in everything.”
Wayne and Chainz’s Welcome 2 ColleGrove drops on November 17 after “Presha” was released this month. Other articles and Benny The Butcher will appear on the 21-track collaboration.
With 53,000 album-equivalent sales in its first week, ColleGrove debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 in 2016.
Before performing “Presha” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, Weezy and Tity Boi discussed their lifelong bond.
“I meаn, when we linked up, we’ve been friends ever since,” Weezy remarked of their Atlanta studio meeting. 2 Chainz appears laid-back and college-educated when playing basketball.
They were timid when asked how they started working together. “Um…Wayne wants weeԀ,” 2 Chainz said Fallon, recalling working as Tunechi’s weeԀ dealer.
Wayne said, “Every time I go to Atlanta and want to talk about cannabis, I call [2 Chainz].”
