The friendship between Eminem and Snoop Dogg was strained due to a “miscommunication” years ago. Dr. Dre’s 2021 health concern helped mend their bond.
Snoop, 50, insulted Eminem, 49, in 2020, prompting the star to slam Snoop in his lyrics. The rappers had been feuding for almost two decades.
When Dr. Dre, 57, had a brain aneurysm in January 2021 and spent two weeks in intensive care, hip-hop stars were inspired to go on.
“Me and Snoop had our little issue and then when Dre, when that thing happened with Dre, the brain aneurysm thing…” On SiriusXM’s Paul Pod: Curtain Call 2, Eminem told his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg. “We thought, bro, this is stupiԀ. It’s silly to figҺt now. I don’t recall if I phoned him or he called me, but we talked.”
Eminem blames the friction between the two on “miscommunication” about a possible cooperation.
The “Love the Way You Lie” rapper included Snoop, Dre, Xzibit, and Nate Dogg on “BitcҺ Please II” from his 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP and stated he thinks something got lost in translation after Snoop requested Eminem guest on one of his tracks.
“I think he had wаnted to do something with me and maybe gave you the idea or something,” Eminem told Rosenberg. After saying, ‘Well let’s hear the song first. See what kind of tune it is. He claimed his reaction was like I don’t f— with him. That I didn’t f— him.”
Rosenberg claimed he didn’t remember the details, but Snoop wаnted Eminem to contribute to his album.
“I don’t even think I said it to him, because I don’t remember talking to him, but I may have talked to somebody on his team, and whatever I said was relayed back to him in a way that he didn’t like and he thought that meant that you didn’t f— with him,” Rosenberg added. “Which obviously wasn’t the case.”
Eminem stated he told Snoop Dogg that his 1993 first album inspired him.
“Yeah, which I explained to him, like, ‘Bro, Doggystyle changed my life,'” said he.
Eminem and Snoop have collaborated multiple times and performed in Suρer Bowl LVI with Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick Lamar.
The couple performed “From the D 2 the LBC,” last month at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Though they’re friends now, Snoop’s 2020 interview in which he declared Eminem wasn’t one of the top 10 artists damaged their friendship.
“Dr. Dre definitely made Eminem one of the best 10 rappers ever. I disagree, but the game believes he’s a top-10 lyricist and everything. Just because he’s with Dr. Dre “He said. “When you are talking about this hip-hop s— that I can’t live without, I can live without that.”
In 2020’s “Zeus,” Eminem criticized the “Gin and Juice” rapper, saying: “I’m accustomed to folks knockin’ me. No, not in my camp. I’m trying to be diplomatic. The last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me. You were like a freaking god to me, puppy. Not really, man. My ‘dog’ was backwards.”
