North West rocks Kanye West’s Pastelle jacket while in Paris

Certainly, this appears to hold true for both Kanye West and his eldest daughter, North West.

During their presence at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, North was seen donning an iconic blue and red varsity jacket, sporting blue-rimmed sunglasses, black pants, and Balenciaga Crocs stompers.

This Pastelle jacket hails from a fashion line initiated by Kanye back in 2004, though it never officially took off. In fact, the rapper and fashion mogul purportedly informed his business partners around 2009 that the line was no longer in progress, according to Complex.

Kanye himself graced the 2008 American Music Awards with this jacket, where he claimed victory in the categories of Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist.

As North strolled through the streets of Paris this week, she was undeniably eye-catching, even alongside her mom, Kim Kardashian, who sported a camouflage printed top and neon green leggings.

The Pastelle brand has become quite scarce these days and ultimately came under the control of one of West’s creative partners, Ian Dior, as reported by GQ.

Earlier this year, a medium-sized version of the Pastelle jacket, similar to the one North was spotted wearing, was sold for $10,000 on Justin Reed’s upscale consignment online shop.

The jacket is characterized by its 100% wool composition and features like a rib-knit collar, lined waist zipper pockets, and faux leather shoulder accents.

“The jacket’s design is highly representative of the era it originated from,” noted Jake Woolf in a 2017 GQ article. “These days, Kanye is all about sweatpants and military-inspired outerwear, but in 2008, he was captivated by the graphic designs and vibrant color palettes championed by labels like Bape, Supreme, and Nike SB.”
