Ringo Starr recently stated that, in his opinion, The Beatles are currently more successful than Justin Bieber, but it’s difficult to prove that at this point. It appears that The Beatles aren’t even the most-listened-to rock band on Spotify, despite the fact that Justin Bieber is significantly boosting Puerto Rico’s economy.
Based on Spotify streams from the first half of 2017, the streaming service has released a list of the top 20 rock acts worldwide. The Beatles just made it to number three, trailing Coldplay, who currently hold the top place (perhaps in part because to their collaboration with Chainsmokers) and Twenty One Pilots, who are still riding high off their No. 1 album from 2015, Blurryface.
The Fab Four’s situation worsens even more as they are demoted to fourth place on Spotify’s ranking of the best rock acts in the United States alone! During the disco. On both lists, however, The Beatles rank highest among artists that were active before to 1990, surpassing such acts as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Queen, Nirvana, and others.
