10 memorable charity moments of Drake, spending enough to ƅᴜy a mansion in New York just for charity

Drake gave thousands of dollars to children, schools, shelters, and even a grocery in Miami to film the video for his latest single “God’s Plan,” making many Miami people smile. 

Drake wrote after a week of charity work about how great it was to give back. “The past three days were the best in a long time… “There’s nothing like seeing people smile when they need it most,” he captioned the photo.

Drake Gives Jamaican Learning Center $30,000 in April 2010

Drake released a number of mixtapes by 2010 and became Lil Wayne’s disciple. Drake told Samaritan Mag that he was “inspired” to donate money to Cassava Piece, a Kingston, Jamaica, village, after coming to film the clip for his Thank Me Later song “Find Your Love” and seeing the housing conditions.

I went there and they spraypainted ‘Drake’ on the walls, and the kids ran after us. “I donated $30,000 to build computer schools for kids,” he told the publication. I love Jamaica. I adore Jamaica and wish to improve the community.”

Drake awards Dixon Hall $10,000 Allan Slaight Award in August 2011.

After leaving Degrassi, Drake’s mixtapes and first album Thank Me Later made a big sensation in hip-hop. The Toronto native received the 2nd annual Allan Slaight Award, a $10,000 honorarium, for his contribution. Drake donated his prize money to Dixon Hall, a Toronto nonprofit that helps low-income residents.

Drake Gives to Portland Union Gospel Mission in December 2013

Drake reportedly visited the Union Gospel Mission in Portland during his Would You Like a Tour. Drake donated money to upgrade the shelter after seeing how full it was. Union Gospel communications director Stacy Kean told E! News that Drake’s support “really helped,” as winter is the company’s busiest season.

Drake and The Game Help Ohio Mother Who Lost Her Family September 2013 

The Game told the story of Anna, who lost her five children and boyfriend in an Ohio house fire in September 2013. Game and Drake donated $10,000 each to Anna’s funeral and car after hearing of her heartbreaking loss.

June 2014: Drake Launches Houston Appreciation Weekend

Houston has always been home to Drizzy, who celebrated the first Houston Appreciation Weekend. Drake invited Houston residents Kirko Bangz, Dez Bryant, and James Harden to play basketball for the first annual HAW. Tickets supported Drake-selected charity like the Houston Food Bank, Interfaith Ministries, Keep Houston Beautiful, and the T.J. Ford Foundation.

Houston Appreciation Weekend Celebrity Softball Game, July 2015

Drake held a softball contest for supporters at the second Houston Appreciation Weekend after its 2014 success. Drizzy played softball alongside Hannibal Buress, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jas Prince to support the Houston Astros’ Urban Youth Academy, which offers free baseball and softball clinics and training to 7-17-year-olds.

March 2015: Drake Funds Philadelphia High School Recording Studio

Drake continued his philanthropy as his fаme grew. Drake gave a Philadelphia high school a recording studio after hearing that pupils were without one before Drake and Meek Mill traded disses over a number of tracks in July 2015. The rapper invited Strawberry Mansion High School students to his October 2013 concert and contributed $75,000 to the school.

August 2017: Drake Donates to Harvey Relief with Celebrities

Drake donated a lot of money to Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston and the surrounding areas in August. Drake posted on social media while playing in London to inspire Hurricane Harvey victims and announce his $200,000 donation to his friend and Houston Texans wide receiver J.J Watts’ relief fund.

Drake and the Raptors Host “Welcome Toronto” Basketball Games in January 2018.

Earlier in January, the Toronto Raptors introduced their new OVO “City Editions” jerseys and announced their partnership with Drake to host six “Welcome Toronto” home games. Drake and the Raptors will donate $1 million to city basketball court repairs.

“As this team and Toronto continues to grow, we have seen how much we can do together,” Drake stated in a press release. Welcome Toronto celebrates our team and city while working together to give back to the community and create a place for youngsters to play. These courts could shape the next generation of Canadian basketball stars.”

The upcoming “Welcome Toronto” games are March 9, 23, and April 6.

February 2018: Drake’s Miami Good Samaritan Spree

After a hiatus in 2017, Drake released “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity” in January to pacify fans before a full project. Drake’s “God’s Plan” topped the Billboard Hоt 100 and shattered Spotify and Apple Music’s single-day streaming record. Drake flew to Miami to film “God’s Plan” and donated $25,000 to Miami Senior High School and OVO-designed uniforms.

A $50,000 cheque from the “Blem” artist went to University of Miami student Destiny James. Drake donated $50,000 more to a homeless shelter and gave families $150 Target gift cards during his Miami tour. After visiting Sabor Tropical Supermarket in Miami, the kind rapper paid for customers’ groceries.
