Beyond the music industry, Travis Scott, the Grammy-nominated rap sensation well-known for his international tours and festivals, has a unique dream: he wants to go to Boston and attend Harvard University for four years, focusing on architecture. After breаking up with Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott retired to pursue his passion of becoming an architect
When Scott was named one of GQ’s me𝚗 of the year in the November issue of the magazine, he expressed his ambition to study architecture at Harvard and become fully immersed in the structural design and engineering fields.
Even though Scott was well-known throughout the world, he showed sincere desire in attending Harvard for formal schooling. He clarified that he does not anticipate taking any short cuts in the application process and mentioned having visited the Cambridge campus a few times to learn about the admissions process.
After wrapping off the “Utopia” album tour, the rapper announced his intention to start this educational path. He plans to live in the Boston area for about four years while pursuing his musical career.
Scott elucidated his fascination with structural design and expressed a deep curiosity about the process by which non-traditional shapes might be transformed into useful structures. Beyond the stage, his interest for exploring architecture demonstrates a varied desire for creativity and innovation.
Scott may certainly apply to Harvard’s master of architecture program; the application deadline is January 3, 2024, for Fall admission. A college degree and courses in calculus, physics, and architectural history are among the demanding requirements. A thorough intellectual foundation embracing history, theory, technology, social settings, and professional practice is emphasized in Harvard’s master of architecture program. The curriculum requires students to write a design thesis that acts as a bridge from graduate school to professional practice, with a special emphasis on building mastery of design through intense studio courses.
Although Scott’s academic path diverged when he left the University of Texas at San Antonio in his sophomore year, his goals have changed over time. He revealed in the GQ interview that during middle and high school, he had a goal to become a nephrologist with a focus on kidneys.
A dark chapter in Scott’s career—the deadly crowd surge at his Astroworld festival in Houston in 2019 that claimed ten lives—was also covered in the profile. Scott said he continues to think back on the event, recognizing the great effect it had on him and highlighting the close bond he has with his fans—comparing them to family.
