A portion of Travis Scott’s earnings from his partnership with Nike will go toward his Project HEAL charitable endeavors

The rapper launched Project HEAL in March, a multi-tier program tackling juvenile concerns, especially in underserved and at-risk communities. Travis Scott is also collaborating with Nike to give back.

The rapper, 31, will give some of the earnings from his Cactus Jack x Nike Air Max 1 release to Project HEAL, a spokesman said. An precise figure is unknown.

Project HEAL, launched in March, is a multi-tier project to help marginalized and at-risk adolescents.

Project HEAL and Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation granted $1 million in scholarships to 38 HBCU students earlier this month. The amount was split among 100 students.

Scott’s grandpa, Waymon Webster, was an HBCU educator at Prairie View A&M University, where he also studied.

Scott’s sister Jordan Webster, the Cactus Jack Foundation’s Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund project manager, graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. on May 7.

“I know personally how deeply important my grandfather’s academic legacy at HBCUs is to my entire family — to Travis, as well as my twin brother Josh who is at Prairie View A&M University — and now, to 100 people that Travis has been able to help out at a tough time,” Webster said in a statement then. “It means the world to me to be able to work with my brother as he creates hope and makes a real difference for our peers and their families.”

Project HEAL creates the first tech-driven event safety solution, expands mental health resources for low-income communities, funds a creative design center in Scott’s birthplace of Houston, Texas, and awards scholarships.

“Travis and his family — including his sister, Jordan, who leads on all education efforts — are believers in giving back and making sure as many young people as possible have pathways to opportunity and excellence,”

In November 2021, a crowd surge at Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston killed 10 spectators and injured hundreds. Project HEAL was launched four months later.

After the tragedy, Scott has returned to the public eye in recent weeks. He sang “Lost Forever” at the Billboard Music Awards on May 15. Scott performed alongside Quavo at E11Even Miami during the Miami Grand Prix weekend a week previously.

The number of festivalgoers injured was revealed in new court files. Rolling Stone said that attorneys reported 10 deaths and almost 5,000 injuries at the festival.

Scott asked various lawsuits to be dismissed in December 2021. The rapper and his company “generally” refuted the cases’ allegations in the filings.
