For any performer, having a song make its Billboard Hоt 100 debut is the pinnacle of their career. After all, it’s the Billboard Premier Songs Chart, and to be included among the greatest of the best, a performer’s star typically needs to align.
The Hоt 100 combines sales data, radio airplay, and all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and video); digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) websites are not included in the chart calculations. Sales data represents purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers.
Since the survey’s inauguration on August 4, 1958, more than 8,000 artists have had a song selected for consideration. Merely fifteen artists have had at least 100 songs charted overall.
Elvis Presley is the first artist to reach 100 cumulative hits; his career began before the Hоt 100 was ever established. With the song “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” he scored his 100th point in May 1975 out of a final 109 total. Before the Glee Cast overtook him in 2011 and nearly quadrupled his number to 207 entries, he held the record for the most overall chart entries. That record lasted until 2020, when Drake’s song “Oprah’s Bank Account” made it to the top of the charts, easily surpassing the TV group.
Drake now holds the record for most entries made by any artist on the list with 327 during his career (through the Hоt 100 dated Dec. 2, 2023). He is the first performer in history to have at least 300 songs charted overall. Only two other artists—Taylor Swift (231) and the Glee cast (207—have charted at least 200.
Thus far in 2023, three musicians have been members of the 100-hits club. At age 23, YoungBoy Never Broke Again became the youngest artist to ever accomplish the achievement when they reached the milestone in May. Following the release of Pink Tape, Lil Uzι Vert became the fourteenth act to join in July. On August 12, Travis Scott became the latest artist to be included on the list as a result of his album Utopia’s arrival.
The Weeknd presently has 97 Hоt 100-charted songs. Eminem (95), Bad Bunny (93), Young TҺug (92), James Brown (91), 21 Sаvаge (89), Lil Durk (89), Beyoncé (82), Juice WRLD (79), and Gunna (77) are the next artists that may be in line to join the elite group.
Although musicians rarely have triple-digit entries on the Hоt 100 chart, this has started to happen more frequently since the ranking started taking streaming statistics into account in 2007. As a result, after producing well-known albums, several musicians have been successful in charting a large number of songs on the Hоt 100 in recent years. The approach is different from previous decades, when artists would typically promote one song at a time on radio and in the physical-only market. Artists’ recent success in charting multiple songs in short periods of time can be partially attributed to this shift in consumer behavior.
This is a current look at every artist who has had 100 or more career hits chart on the Hоt 100 as of the chart of December 2, 2023.
