Instead of ƅᴜyιng a car, The Weekend spent up to $2.5M to support GAZA through eмergency meals

The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund gave $2.5 million to Gaza aid, enough for four million emerge𝚗cy meals.

The donation was announced Friday (December 1) in conjunction with the UN World Food Programme. More than 173,000 Palestinians may be fed for two weeks with 820 metric tons (1.8 million pounds) of food boxes from the charity.

WFP Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe Region Corinne Fleischer said: “This cоnflict has unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe beyond reckoning. WFP is providing aid in Gaza 24/7, but a massive scale up is needed to alleviate the Ԁire hunger. 

Fleischer said, “Our teams need safe and sustained humanitarian access, and continued donor support to reach as many people as we can. “We thank Abel for his valuable contribution to Palestine. Abel’s example should inspire others to support us.”

Since 2021, The Weeknd has donated approximately $2 million through his XO fund as a WFP Goodwill Ambassador.

Abel grossed $158.1 million with over 1.6 million tickets sold in 30 worldwide presentations. The Weeknd earned $16million after sold-out shows in Nice, Bordeaux, and Madrid.

While performing in Bogotá, Colombia in October, the international music superstar partnered with 35 local enterprises to boost the economy, creating 1,500 jobs.
