Rapper No Malice of Clipse has welcomed the possibility of working with artists like Coldplay and The Killers, throwing his hat into the whirlwind world of musical partnerships.
In a recent interview with GOAT, Pusha T and Malice sat down with their manager Steven Victor and discussed prospective collaboration partners.
Malice said, “I would like that. As far as hip-hop goes, the highwater mark is always collaborating with JAY-Z.” “I would like to see Clipse do something outside of hip-hop, like arena records, festivals, and collaborations with artists like Coldplay and The Killers.”
However, King Push feels a little differently now that he appears to have reached his maximum for collaboration. “Human.” I’m not sure. I’m all screwed up,” he declared. “If there isn’t a fantastic body of work involved, I don’t even give a damn about partnerships. I enjoy well-crafted, unified body of work. I believe that this genre is only being sustained because of how fly-by-night everyone is feeling these days.
Malice continued her explanation about how they choose partnerships. It must be a natural fit, he declared. It only needs to make logic. I’m not just trying to work with people for the sake of working with people. It must unquestionably match. It must provide each other with meaning. The listener ought to be able to conclude, after hearing it, that “I understand why they’re collaborating.”
Despite not having collaborated on a project since 2009’s Til The Casket Drops, Clipse came back together in 2019 for the song “Use This Gospel” from Kanye West’s Jesus Is King album. The two performed live in June of last year at Something in the Water, during Pharrell Williams’ headline performance.
Clipse will play Primavera Sound in 2019 after reuniting on Pusha T’s song “I Pray for You” from his most recent solo album, It’s Almost Dry. Purchase your passes from this link.
