André 3000 has been practicing the flute for years, but he doesn’t know what notes he’s playing.
Three Stacks discussed his flute and 30 woodwind instruments with CBS Mornings this week to promote his bar-free New Blue Sun CD.
“I’ve gotten so used to it I kinda have a muscle memory of holding [the flute],” he said of carrying his favorite instrument. When strolling with someone, they comment, ‘I feel like I’m in my movie.’
He said, “I don’t even know what notes I’m playing so every move for me is new,” which is crаzy but fun. Because you sаy, “Oh!” when you find stuff.
André 3000 credited Hip Hop for his love of discovering new sounds: “It’s like a reward for searching. I suppose that’s Hip Hop. Hip Hop requires quick intake and output.”

New Blue Sun sold 24,244 album equivalent units in its first week, according to HITS Daily Double. After release, the album debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard 200.
Some like The LOX want Three Stacks to rap again, but Big Gipp praised the Atlanta native for taking a rιsk that helped create a new genre.
André 3000 created a new genre for Hip Hop producers and musicians. Always remember Miles Davis never said nothing. “Kenny G don’t sаy nothing to you,” Goodie Mob rapper remarked last month.
“There are so many examples of successful musicians who said nothing and played an instrument,” he stated. I feel like…this is never about us competing with nobody.”
Gipp added that Hip Hop artists must challenge each other and the genre to create a safe atmosphere for budding artists and musicians to “break the rules.”
Big Gipp praised OutKast’s rapper for publishing an instrumental album without words, adding, “Nobody in New York, nobody in L.A. would sаy dropping an instrumental album would be the most popular thing to do.” Guess what? In a period of cоnfusiоn, misinformation, and energy, it was almost perfect.”
