Respect! Shaquille O’Neal raps with Snoop Dogg at charity gala, raises $2.7 million

When Shaquille O’Neal and rapper Snoop Dogg took the stage together to perform, it was an unforgettable moment for the audience at his first charity event.

The inaugural gala of the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports underprivileged children, took place on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Among the performers on the evening, which was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, were Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, and Snoop Dogg.

As the last act of the evening, the West Coast rapper asked O’Neal to close the show with a performance of their legendary smаsh song, “Nuthin’ But A G Thang,” which they had both recorded with Dr. Dre.

Snoop Dogg declared, “I wanna do something real special right now.” “I want to honor a very special person in my life. One of my closest friends, who I believe entered at the same moment.

“He’s the man of the evening, and we’ve been doing the same things lately. We’re going to do something special for you guys, if that’s okay. Never seen or heard of Snoop Dogg and Shaq before. Come on, let’s go.”

Snoop added some unique Shaq references of his own, and the NBA icon filled in Dre’s vocals on the tune.

“One, two, three, and to the four, Snoop Doggy Dogg and Shaq-dog is at your door,” he said. “Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre is at your door” is the standard line.

The auction and event helped generate $2.7 million for Communities in Schools and the Boys & Girls Club.

O’Neal participated in the auction himself, placing a $90,000 offer that resulted in a cameo appearance in a future Adam Sandler film.

In a statement posted on his foundation’s website before of the event, O’Neal said, “Together we will raise funds for a great cause, but we will also have a great time doing it.”
