Rick Ross is currently in the midst of promoting his forthcoming album, “Too Good To Be True,” a collaboration with Meek Mill. The album is already gaining momentum with the release of singles like “SHAQ & KOBE” and “Lyrical Eazy.” However, amidst the promotional frenzy, Ross took a brief hiatus to express his interest in a potential collaboration with one of hip-hop’s heavyweights.
In a video shared on his Instagram Stories on October 19, Ross unveiled his ambitious idea. He expressed his desire to sign none other than Kanye West to his record label, Maybach Music Group (MMG). With an air of confidence, Ross addressed Kanye directly, saying, “The boss, Ricky Rozay, I’m interested in signing Kanye West. Maybach Music. Ye, what’s up? Talk to me. Let’s make history, baby.”
Ross followed up with another video, further elaborating on the concept. He painted a vivid picture of the possibilities, suggesting that Kanye could potentially collaborate with MMG to distribute his new project. Ross envisioned an artistic synergy that would be unparalleled, asking his audience to imagine the creative forces of a Ross-Ye collaboration. Additionally, he hinted at having “amazing ideas for the Yeezy brand.”
This proposal comes in the wake of Kanye West’s collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign on a joint project, with plans to debut the full-length offering at a concert in Italy’s RCF Arena, capable of holding up to 100,000 attendees. However, according to reports, the event has been postponed as West and Ty Dolla $ign seek a distributor for their unnamed LP.
Several major labels have reportedly declined to distribute the project, despite its lack of lyrical controversy. Nonetheless, smaller distributors are fiercely competing for the opportunity, recognizing the potential game-changing impact of such a release given the streaming histories of the two artists. One company in the running is Too Lost, a music distribution and publishing company, which was launched in 2021 and currently represents West’s rights on YouTube. Ross’s offer to bring Kanye to MMG adds an intriguing dimension to this ongoing development in the music industry.
