BTS Says Working with Coldplay’s Chris Martin Was ‘So ‘Organic:’ Song ‘My Universe’ Was a ‘Gift’

Chris Martin and the boys of BTS are completely enamored with their new song, “My Universe.” Speaking with PEOPLE’s Jeremy Parsons and Janine Rubenstein on the red carpet of the 2021 American Music Awards, the K-Pop artists expressed their eagerness to perform with the ensemble.

RM, 27, tells PEOPLE that “these past two years have come full-circle, 360 degrees.” “So, hearing the commotion and seeing people face to face without masks is pretty weird. We’re up for artist of the year today, so it means even more.”

Regarding “My Universe,” the group claims that everything went perfectly.

The entire procedure was natural. Regarding the song, “Chris described it as a gift for us,” RM remarks. “So he came out to Seoul to record together with us and the process was really natural and organic.”

J-Hope was very definite about their AMAs performance: “It’ll be one for the books.”

Due to the pandemic, the trio hasn’t met their American fans in person for the past two years, but they have expressed excitement for their future shows.

“We long for the cacophony. Since we haven’t seen the real people in the past two years, we really miss them, RM remarks. “We’re so nervous and words can’t describe how excited and nervous we are.”

But where does the group eat when they get in Los Angeles? McDonald’s, the gang jokes, with a Sprite.
