“I’m going to be home and in bed by 7:30, Bruce [Springsteen], and I will come and hear your five-hour concert,” Curtis declared in a recent interview.
Although Jamie Lee Curtis loves going to concerts, she prefers not to stay out too late.
The Everything Everywhere star, who like to go to bed at a respectable hour, asked why musicians don’t do concerts during the day instead of at night in two interviews conducted over the previous week.
“I’m simply going to make this recommendation and taunt at this point. U2 performs in the afternoon. Put on a matinee, Coldplay. Coldplay, how about a gig at noon? What about it?” the 64-year-old Curtis questioned The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday.
“Do an f—ing matinee, Bruce Springsteen! You’re getting older! Bruce Springsteen, excuse the pun, why wouldn’t you allow me to visit you during your heyday at noon or one o’clock? It is two o’clock! The Oscar nominee went on, “Two o’clock matinee!” “New York theater, two o’clock! Bruce, I’m coming over to attend your five-hour concert at two o’clock, and I’ll be in bed by 7:30.”
In an interview with Today on Tuesday, she expanded on the topic and informed the performers that she is “challenging” them to do shows “during the day.”
“Why are there no matinees?” Curtis enquired. For example, I adore Coldplay. Seeing Coldplay live would be amazing. The issue is that if Coldplay opens with an opening act at nine o’clock, I won’t be going to watch them. At 1 p.m., I want to see Coldplay. I believe we could start a trend if we packed a stadium with people eager to watch Coldplay in the afternoon.”
The Freaky Friday actress, who is competing for best supporting actress at the 2023 Academy Awards, previously said in an interview with THR that she declined an invitation to this year’s Oscar nominees’ luncheon for a similar reason.
“Now, you might be thinking, ‘Jamie, I have declined. You’re going to be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award, and I’m nominated for one.'” Why? since my mother goes to bed early,” Curtis elucidated.
