Watch Coldplay bring Kelly Rowland on stage to sing Destiny’s Child’s ‘Independent Women’ in Atlanta

Kelly Rowland and Chris Martin could get down like that, didn’t you know that?

Rowland shocked fans on Saturday night at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium during Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour stop in Atlanta by joining them for a rendition of a classic Destiny’s Child song, “Independent Women Part 1.”

Lead singer Martin, 45, remarked, “This is how it’s really done, this is true, professional brilliant music,” as the group moved over to the tour’s mid-stadium satellite stage for the duet. The band also includes guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion, and manager-turned-creative-director Phil Harvey.

The 41-year-old member of Destiny’s Child asked the audience, “What’s up ATL?” as she joined Coldplay in singing an acoustic, stripped-down rendition of “Independent Women Part 1,” which was first featured on the soundtrack for the Charlie’s Angels movie in 2000 and then again on the band’s 2001 album Survivor.

“Tell me what you think of me, please. I purchase my own rings and diamonds. The superstar collaborators, featuring Rowland in a flowing, midriff-baring green costume, sang, “Only ring your celly when I’m feelin’ lonely / When it’s all over, please get up and leave,” over Martin’s rhythmic guitar strums.

“MY HEART! Very Full! “I appreciate being featured on @coldplay,” Rowland tweeted following the show.

The vocalist of “Kisses Down Low” is the most recent guest to accompany Coldplay on tour. Bruce Springsteen made an appearance at the band’s second performance in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium on June 5 to perform “Working on a Dream” and “Dancing in the Dark” alongside Martin.

After a brief fireworks display, the frontman of Coldpay hinted that there was some “magic… [in] the building.”

“I have a tattoo on my arm, which is cause this person is my hero,” stated the man. “And please welcome — I can’t believe we get to say it — but please welcome Mr. Bruce Springsteen.”

The 72-year-old singer of “Born to Run” then leaped onto the stage, giving Martin a hug as hundreds of people yelled “Bruuuuuuce.”

“I’m grateful. “Hi, New Jersey!” he exclaimed. “Like Chris said, he’s had this song tattooed on his arm for a while, so I guess I gotta sing it.”

After that, the two sang “Working on a Dream,” a smash song by Springsteen from 2009, and “Dancing in the Dark,” with Martin playing piano.

“Go forth, young one! Chris, hurry up!” As Martin hit falsetto notes in the 1984 hit, Springsteen gave encouragement.

On June 4, the trio performed a cover of Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue’s smash song “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” at their debut gig at MetLife.Coldplay on X: "️️@KellyRowland joined the band onstage in Atlanta last night #independentwomen 🤍 https://t.co/FNwB1i3W5j" / X

Rapper Lupe Fiasco, a resident of Chicago, made a surprise visit at Coldplay’s May 28 performance at Soldier Field. He sang his song “Superstar” and the band’s “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face.”
