Linkin Park delighted fans recently by dropping “Heavy is the Crown,” the second single from their forthcoming album From Zero. The track followed closely behind “The Emptiness Machine,” which officially kicked off their comeback. As the latter tune continues to perform well on the charts, the even-newer cut reaches quite a few Billboard tallies for the first time.
“Heavy is the Crown” debuts on 11 charts in America this week. That’s an impressive number, considering the tune was released on a Tuesday, which is halfway through the tracking frame. That means that Linkin Park’s latest only had about three days in which to be streamed and purchased and then impact the rankings, but that proved to be enough time to turn it into a quick hit.
Sales are largely to thank for the immediate success of “Heavy is the Crown,” as fans purchased the single in sizable numbers in just the few days it was available. The latest from the Grammy-winning rockers arrives with 2,200 copies sold, according to Luminate. That sum places the track at No. 24 on the Digital Song Sales chart, the list of the bestselling cuts in the nation across all genres.
The single also reaches three other purchase-focused rosters. “Heavy is the Crown” debuts in third place on both the Rock and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts. It blasts in at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales list, where it replaces “The Emptiness Machine” at the top.
For the moment, “Heavy is the Crown” only appears on one list that focuses solely on streaming activity. The new track opens at No. 12 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, and it will likely soar when the ranking refreshes again in a few days.
