Tyler Perry was one of the many celebrities that an made appearance at the 2018 Wearable Art Gala. The event is a charity art auction that benefits WACO (Where Art Can Occur)

Theater Center, which provides a performing arts space and mentoring to teens. However, Perry encountered an unlikely rival when bidding on a painting of a young Sidney Poitier; Blue Ivy Carter.

The 6-year-old daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z,  Blue Ivy made headlines for her appearance at the gala. Despite her age, she bid on many of the expensive art pieces, and even won one for $10,000.

According to E News!, Perry described their bidding war during a recent appearance on the Today show. He explained:

“Somebody else was bidding against me. I didn’t know who it was. I look over and it’s her. She’s taking the paddle out of Jay’s hand and Beyoncé’s hand and she’s bidding. I’m like, this kid’s not outbidding me today. You gonna learn today, little girl, I’m getting this painting. But Jay-Z actually pretended to pull it out of her hand and stop her bidding. But it was for charity so it was for a great cause. I got the painting. I could not be outdone by a 6-year-old.”

Tyler Perry and Blue Ivy weren’t the only winners that night, however. Beyonce also scored herself a set of Lorraine Schwartz panther earrings for $17,000.
