Emily Armstrong cried during a recent Linkin Park performance, and fans of Chester Bennington shared their reactions.

A fan posted the moment on Instagram with the caption, “I love this song so much! Haters, go away! I don’t want to see or read how unhappy you are! Anyone who truly loves Linkin Park and their music understands that Emily is the best thing that has been done since Chester’s death.”

“How can anyone not look at Emily and see that she’s just as big a fan as we are and that she would rather die than tarnish the legacy of Chester? Give her a chance,” a fan commented on the post.

One other user said, “Emily was destined to resurrect Linkin Park. Chester would be so proud of her.” “You have to be inhuman not to feel her pain. Respect for doing something she loves and helping a band she truly loves to continue on,” another one added.

On September 5, Linkin Park announced their comeback during a live-streamed event. They introduced Armstrong as their new singer. However, adding Armstrong received some backlash due to her ties to the Church of Scientology and support for convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him,” Emily said in a statement.

She added, “I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty. To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.”

Armstrong also recently faced criticism for possibly using backing tracks during live performances. During a song, she held the mic out to the crowd, but her recorded vocals continued playing. Some fans noticed this and had mixed reactions. While some supported her, saying it’s common for artists to use backing tracks, others felt it was disappointing.
