Linkin Park’s new singer Emily Armstrong forgot lyrics during the band’s recent Paris show and Mike Shinoda stepped in.
Fans commented on the incident on Reddit and seemed supportive of the vocalist as she is new in the band and will learn the whole setlist in time.
“She saying ‘I know those songs for twenty years’ but singing along, not without anything to back up was such an interesting thing to hear,” someone wrote. “Even Chester and Mike forgot the lyrics to their songs sometimes during live shows, so yeah… it must be quite a challenge to learn them all.”
One other person commented, “She’s never performed for so many people live in person before. Definitely some nerves but still her voice is on point tonight.”
“Mike is well aware that he put a very heavy burden on Emily. As the leader of the band, Mike is doing everything he can to ease things for Emily, thank the stars that Emily is willing to live up to what is asked of her,” another individual said.
Linkin Park released three new songs with Emily. The band has a new success after ‘Heavy Is The Crown’ debuted at number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band now holds the top 3 spots on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart. Their song ‘Over Each Other’ is in third place, ‘Heavy Is The Crown’ is second, and ‘The Emptiness Machine’ is number one.
In a new talk on the Twenty400 Block Podcast, Chester Bennington’s son, Jaime, shared his thoughts about Armstrong. When asked how he feels about her performing his father’s songs, Jaime said, “I think it’s a nice karaoke job. It sounds like someone having fun for sure.”
He continued, “I think she’s going to hurt her voice. I’m very worried that Emily in the long run has hurt her voice. I have a lot of respect for people as people I can understand art is art and that people are people and those are two different things. So I can enjoy Linkin Park as much as I detest some of their actions at the moment. With Emily, I’m just kind of worried that she’s pushing it a little hard.”
Linkin Park’s new album with Emily, ‘From Zero’ will arrive on November 15, 2024. The From Zero World Tour started on September 11, 2024, six days after the live show at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. It will end on November 16, 2024, at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil.
