When the Billboard charts refresh on Tuesday (November 26), Linkin Park will dominate. The band’s new album From Zero is likely headed for the top spot—or at least a lofty position—on a number of rock album rankings. Several tunes from the set, including the four singles that have already been selected from the project, are also bound to earn impressive debuts. Ahead of that takeover, two of the members of the group land a solo win…with a familiar composition.
Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong debut on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart this week. They do so under their own names, and outside of Linkin Park, even though their new win is a tune that was only recently made famous by the band.
The two musicians launch “Heavy is the Crown” at No. 14 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed hard rock-only tracks in the country. This is the second iteration of the tune that has reached the list.
About two months ago, the original version of “Heavy is the Crown” debuted on the Hot Hard Rock Songs ranking, and it’s still performing incredibly well. The Linkin Park take on the cut is steady at No. 2 on the roster.
Shinoda is a founding member of Linkin Park, but Armstrong is the newest addition. She’s taken over singing and screaming duties after Chester Bennington passed away more than half a decade ago. For years, the band was in limbo, but now they’ve returned, thanks to Armstrong and fellow musician Colin Brittain joining in the fun.
